Can you believe it's December?! The year has flown by... It's so weird. Every year goes by a little faster than the year before. Well, since Thanksgiving has passed and all the Christmas decorations have been broken out (except for the few places that put them up before Thanksgiving - shame!) I thought I would throw some fairly random Christmas facts at you to think about. :)

Where are the bones of Christopher Columbus?
Welcome everyone! Today I'm going to be doing a bit of a different type of post. What follows is basically a school paper/report I did recently that I thought was interesting and thought I would share. (Basically - I didn't want to write the blog post I had "scheduled" so I'm doing this instead.)

The Reformation: #500
Guys. The history nerd in me is freaking out. Tommorrow is the 500th anniversary of the Reformation! (Or more specifically, the day when Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenburg. But who was being specific? Not me!) That is so cool. I don't know what it is about nice round anniversary numbers, but they make me happy. And number 500? Eeek!!

A Brief History of Neuschwanstein
Welcome everyone! Today I'm going to whip out my historian
Anna outfit (or costume... either works) and talk about some history. And not
just any type of history either - this is some German history. (Two of my
favorite school subjects mashed into one wonderful item.) I'm going to be
talking about a famous castle in Germany called Neuschwanstein.

Saint Patrick's Day
Happy (early) Saint Patrick's Day!! This post kinda follows in the vein of my Valentine's Day post back in February. As you may or may not know, I am fascinated with history, especially stories that you don't often hear about. Anybody every heard of Boudica? I think not! But that's the kind of stuff I love to learn about.

Valentine's Day
Welcome!! As you probably know, Valentine's Day is tomorrow. So this week's post is going to have a little video explaining the history of Valentine's Day. I think it's really interesting to learn about all the history behind the holidays. And Valentine's Day is not just about lovers and candy and hearts.

Only What's Done for Christ will Last
Welcome! Today I'm going to be talking
about a man who gave nearly his entire adult life in service to the Lord, and
who also gave us a beautiful poem I've loved since the day I heard it quoted by
our youth pastor. Introducing… (drumroll) C.T. Studd!!

Christmas Carols - auf Deutsch!
Welcome to Anna's Family Blog!! Today I'm going to be talking about several Christmas carols. As the title states - auf Deutsch (in German!). All the carols I mention were originally written in German. There are a lot of German carols, some of which haven't been translated into English.

Halloween!!
Sorry for the late post... I have been super busy the past few days with school and other stuff. I hope to be on time next week. Plus I forgot to count October 31st in my list of Mondays, so I didn't really have a good idea for this post until I realized it was Halloween (four days ago).

J.R.R. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings
Hi! Welcome to my blog... :) Today I'm going to be starting a month-long series on The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Quenta Silmarillion. Fair warning - I am a Lotr/Tolkien fanatic. In this post I'm going to cover the man behind the books, J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Declaration of Independance
Welcome!!
So I know the Fourth of July has passed, but I was saving this until I could get some pictures from Philadelphia - which we visited on our road trip. Super cool!! But here is a short summary of the writing and adoption of the Declaration of Independence (consider this the 4th, but late).

Interesting News!
Welcome! Today I'm going to be doing something more along the lines of news than the more personal line I usually take. I'm really into history, and I read a news article recently that the person who tried to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, John Hinckley Jr., will be released as early as tomorrow.
